Toto jsou starsi poznamky, pouzijte nejnovejsi GPL D3D patch ! ***************************************************************************** Voodoo 3 Vypnete triple buffering (pokud je zaply, V3 3000). GPL 1.0.0.0 nefunguje korektne s Voodoo 3. I s Voodoo 2 byly obcas problemy, zavisi na verzi ovladacu. Problem resi GPL 1.2.0.1. Pokud nutne potrebujete 1.0.0.0 (napr. gpldemo), vyzkousejte tez novy rast3dfx.dll, ke stazeni zde: http://gpl.krej.cz/down/ ============================================================================= Voodoo 2 1. If you are using the latest driver for the voodoo2 (Glide 2.56), that driver has historically caused problems with GPL. Copying the glide2x.dll file from the 2.53 version of the driver into your GPL folder usually cures that problem. 2. Newer drivers for video cards that include full OpenGL support seem to "break" 3dfx drivers. Going back a few generations on your nVidia driver may fix that. ============================================================================= GeeForce Pouzijte D3D patch ! (www.papy.com) ------------------------------- Get the opengl beta patch from www.papy.com. While there get the 1.2 gpl patch. You will need it for online racing. Get the nvidia 3.68 drivers and set buffer flip to block transfer. See ya at vroc. Brian ------------------------------- you'll need the open-GL-patch from papy and make a little change in the registry: search for a key named "OpenGL" (e.g. under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0001\NVidia\OpenGL] or [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0001\YourVendorHere\OpenGL]) and set the Value for "FlippingControl" to "0". I have a Athlon 600, Elsa Erazor X2 (DDR-Ram) and with trilinear filtering, mirrors every 2nd frame I get a constant (and I mean CONSTANT) 36fps in AI-races and online-races unless there is a very big crash with lots of stuff happening which lets the frames drop to about 25. If GPL is the only game you play: go for a Voodoo3. If it's not: buy a GeForce DDR. This card is more than enough for GPL and it's WAY faster with all other games (example: 78fps in Q2-crusher @ 1024x768, no tweaks, no OC). ------------------------------- > Thanks, I changed my AGP aperture to 4mb and hey presto it works! no more > crashes (apart from me overcooking it into a corner as usual) > I use the latest 5.16 drivers which don't let you play in anything higher > than 640x480 so I dropped the 3.77 nvopengl.dll file into the gpl directory > and now it's fine at 1280x1024 (even 1600x1200). I switched the mirror > refresh down to every 3 frames and it's much faster. I now get 36 fps all > the time except for the start (with 19 cars) when it goes down to 12-15 fps. > > Hoorah I can now put my V2's back in my old machine and invite my friends > round to get trashed. > > Some Call Me Tim The only problem is that most other games run like a tranquilised deer with the AGP apeture at 4mb. Quake 3 runs in fits and starts, and Homeworld looks to be at about 3 fps. Oh well - reboot, change bios, play GPL, reboot, change bios, play other games!! ============================================================================= TNT/TNT2 (zrejme plati i to co pro GeeForce) Pouzijte D3D patch ! (www.papy.com) ----------------------------------- 2.08 nvidia detonator reference drivers jsou nejlepsi, jine i novejsi, maji problemy (low FPS, lockup, spatna grafika). ------------------------------- I just got the GPL demo yesterday and after seeing how good it is, I plan on buying the game. There was a problem with the cars' mirrors though, which I've learned has been a long-time issue with the tnt/tnt2 cards. I searched the internet for a solution and came across a message here about using the 3.53 reference drivers with the "Use Block Transfer" setting to fix the problem, which works perfectly. The only problem is that those drivers suck hehe. I wanted to know how to enable that setting with the 2.08 drivers (the best ones imo), and discovered that this fix can be applied to any driver version by simply changing the value of the "FlippingControl" setting in the registry to "0". Depending on the driver version, this setting can be found in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\RIVA TNT\OpenGL], or [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0001\NVi dia\OpenGL] When doing a fresh install, the settings won't appear in the registry until an opengl game is run once. So just in case there are people out there who are looking for this type of info (since the 3.53 fix is pretty recent), here it is. :) -------------------------------- I run GPL successfully on the following system: ASUS P3V4X PIII 533EB Diamond Viper 770 (non-ultra) 160MB Ram, etc Win98 SE or Win2K OpenGL beta 2 patch. Core.ini set to mirrors every 2 frames. Running the 5.13 reference drivers for Win98 from www.reactorcritical.com Set OpenGL settings to "Use Block Transfer" under the advanced NVidia Properties (can't remember exactly where). The system bogs down a bit during starts and really busy activity to sub 20FPS.....during races with details turned a bit down I get near the 36 FPS maximum. I would recommend the NVidia reference drivers (maybe even the 3.68 release candidate drivers). Make sure you find out how to set the "Use Block Transfer" option. ============================================================================= Matrox G400 Pouzijte D3D patch ! (www.papy.com) --------------------------------- It is possible to run GPL with the G400 in OpenGl-Mode with the latest drivers from Matrox (V5.52). Performance is ok, with the usual glitches (Mirror-Setting etc.). There are minor display glitches too, but it works.
